بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
Le fracas!
The Striking Calamity -
الساعة التي تقرع قلوب الناس بأهوالها.
The Calamity!
مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
Qu'est-ce que le fracas?
What is the Striking Calamity?
أيُّ شيء هذه القارعة؟
What is the Calamity?
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
Et qui te dira ce qu'est le fracas?
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
وأيُّ شيء أعلمك بها؟
And what do you know what the Calamity is?
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ
C'est le jour où les gens seront comme des papillons éparpillés,
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,
في ذلك اليوم يكون الناس في كثرتهم وتفرقهم وحركتهم كالفراش المنتشر، وهو الذي يتساقط في النار.
On that Day human beings shall be like scattered moths,
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ
et les montagnes comme de la laine cardée;
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
وتكون الجبال كالصوف متعدد الألوان الذي يُنْفَش باليد، فيصير هباء ويزول.
and the mountains shall be like fluffs of carded wool in varying colours.
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
quant à celui dont la balance sera lourde
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
فأما من رجحت موازين حسناته، فهو في حياة مرضية في الجنة.
Then he whose scales weigh heavier
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ
il sera dans une vie agréable;
He will be in a pleasant life.
فأما من رجحت موازين حسناته، فهو في حياة مرضية في الجنة.
shall have a blissful life;
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
et quant à celui dont la balance sera légère,
But as for one whose scales are light,
وأما من خفت موازين حسناته، ورجحت موازين سيئاته، فمأواه جهنم.
but he whose scales weigh lighter,
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌۭ
sa mère [destination] est un abîme très profond.
His refuge will be an abyss.
وأما من خفت موازين حسناته، ورجحت موازين سيئاته، فمأواه جهنم.
his shall be the deep pit for a dwelling.
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ
Et qui te dira ce que c'est?
And what can make you know what that is?
وما أدراك -أيها الرسول- ما هذه الهاوية؟
And what do you know what that is?
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ
C'est un Feu ardent.
It is a Fire, intensely hot.
إنها نار قد حَمِيت من الوقود عليها.
A Blazing Fire!
